Michael Guercin, Founder & President, Certified Arborist
Michael is a licensed tree expert with more than 30 years in the industry. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist. He is also a member of the Tree Care Industry Association and holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from West Virginia University. Michael's commitment to the environment goes beyond the realm of his business. In addition to his active involvement in local industry groups, he is the co-founder of the Wisconsin Avenue Beautification Project, a revitalization effort in NW Washington D.C.
Matthew Madeira, Certified Arborist
Matthew is a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture with 13 years of experience in tree care. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from West Virginia University. He was an active member of the Plant and Soil Science Club and Organic Farming Research Project. He has a broad background in plant pathology, entomology and agronomy. Matt's area of expertise centers on working with our commercial and institutional clients.
Richard F. Handler, Arborist
Richard is an arborist with 20 years of experience in the fields of horticulture and tree care. He has an Associate's degree in Biological Technology from the State University of New York at Farmingdale, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Dowling College and a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from Morgan University. He is a member of the Landscape Architecture Honor Society. He is certified in ornamental pesticide application by state of Maryland. In addition, he has a broad background in plant pathology, entomology and botany.
Rachel Herschlag, Arborist
Rachel Herschlag is an arborist who received a Master of Science in Plant Pathology from Louisiana State University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Tulane University, during which time she volunteered for organizations promoting local agriculture and urban reforestation. She is a member of the American Phytopathological Society, and has a broad background in botany and phytopathology. In her spare time, she likes to play tennis and visit botanical gardens in the area.
